Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 3/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Cream sugar and shortening.
  3. Add egg.
  4. Add molasses.
  5. Beat well then blend in sifted dry ingredients.
  6. Drop by teaspoon onto greased cookie sheet.
  7. Bake 10 minutes or less- watch cookies as molasses can burn easily.
