Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Soak the chopped dates in the hot water until cool.
  2. Cream together the eggs, granulated sugar and shortening.
  3. Add the salt, soda, cinnamon and vanilla.
  4. Add the flour, dates and water.
  5. Pour into a greased and slightly floured 9X13 pan.
  6. Sprinkle the toppings onto the batter.
  7. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes.
