Peppermint Canes Cookies

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 5 tsp warm water
  • 3/4 cup confectioners' sugar

Directions:

  1. Heat oven to 350. In medium bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and creamy.
  2. Add egg and beat until blended.
  3. Stir in flour and salt, then 1/2 cup of the crushed candy.
  4. Using 1 tsp dough for each rope, shape one quarter of the dough into 36 4-inch ropes.
  5. To make candy cans, twist two ropes together, then bend into candy cane shape.
  6. Place on an ungreased baking sheet.
  7. Bake 8 - 10 minutes until firm.
  8. Cool on baking sheet 1 minute before transferring to wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Repeat with remaining dough.
  10. To make icing, stir water into confectioners sugar. Drizzle each cookie with icing. Sprinkle some of the remaining chopped candies.
  11. Set aside until icing has set.
