Ingredients:

  • 600 g herring fillets
  • 20 ml water
  • 6 tsp salt
  • 10 ml vinegar spice essence
  • 20 ml water
  • 2 tsp allspice
  • 20 ml sugar

Directions:

  1. Filets are rolled together with skinny side outwards.
  2. They are closely placed on the bottom of a sauté pan Pour hard saltened water.
  3. Boil and let simmer for 15 minutes.
  4. This salty boil is removed.
  5. The whale oil taste that is often connected to herring is thus removed.
  6. Water, sugar, red onion and allspice is poured over the herrings.
  7. When herring is cool it is moved into refrigerator.
