Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups butter, softened
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 3/4 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/2 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar
  • 1 -2 tbsp milk

Directions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar.
  2. Add eggs, and molasses and mix thoroughly.
  3. Combine dry ingredients and gradually add to creamed mixture.
  4. Shape into 1-inch balls.
  5. Place on ungreased baking sheets (do not flatten) Bake at 350°F for 10-12 minutes or until done (centers will be slightly soft) In a small mixing bowl beat butter, confectioners' sugar and vanilla and enough milk until creamy.
  6. Frost cookies while warm.
