Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup butter or 1/4 cup margarine, softened
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 1/2 cups flaked coconut
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Directions:

  1. Cream butter and sugar.
  2. Beat in egg and vanilla.
  3. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk.
  4. Pour into a greased 8-inch square baking pan, Bake at 350°F for 30 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
  5. Meanwhile, combine all topping ingredients.
  6. Spread over warm cake.
  7. Broil 3-5 inches from heat for 3-5 minutes or until golden brown.
