Ingredients:

  • 2/3 cup margarine
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp clove
  • 1 tsp ginger

Directions:

  1. Cream margarine, sugar, egg and molasses together.
  2. Add dry ingredients and mix well.
  3. Refrigerate for several hours.
  4. Preheat oven to 375°.
  5. Scoop chilled dough by rounded teaspoon and roll into ball.
  6. Dip one side of cookie dough ball into small bowl of granulated sugar.
  7. Place dough balls, sugar side up on ungreased cookie sheets about 1 1/2-inches apart, as they will spread.
  8. Cook until cookies melt and tops begin to look crinkled - about 8-10 minutes.
  9. Cool on wire racks.
