Jenn's Homemade Whole Wheat Dinner Rolls

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1/2 cup fat free milk
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 tbsp yeast
  • 2 1/2 cups flour

Directions:

  1. Mix .5 cup warm water (110 degrees) with yeast.
  2. Mix remaining water with milk, butter, sugar and salt in a separate large bowl. Add yeast mixture.
  3. Add flour until you have a good soft elastic consistency. Alternate between wheat and white to get roughly equal amounts.
  4. Allow to rise 45 minutes or until double in size. Punch down dough. Allow to rest while finishing next step.
  5. Heat oven to 350. Lightly grease cookie sheet or other large shallow pan with cooking release spray.
  6. Form 32 rolls on greased pan. Allow to rise 45 minutes more.
  7. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-30 minutes or until golden brown.
