Ingredients:

  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup dark syrup
  • 1 cup sour milk
  • 1 3/4 tsp soda
  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 tsp ginger
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Directions:

  1. Cream sugar and shortening. Add eggs one at a time and beat thoroughly. Add syrup, milk, soda and flour to which spices have been added. Let set in refrigerator for several hours before cooking. Pour in muffin tins and bake at 350 for about 12 minutes.
  2. The mixture will keep in the frig for about a week.
