Ingredients:

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 cup bourbon whiskey -or to taste
  • 3/4 lb raisins

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees
  2. Grease two 9 x 5 loaf pans. Set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl,cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time,beating well after each addition.
  5. Sift together next four ingredients and add to creamed mixture,alternating with milk,beginning and ending with dry ingredients.
  6. Combine molasses and baking soda. Add to mixture.
  7. Stir in remaining ingredients.
  8. Pour batter into prepared loaf pans.
  9. Bake for 1 hour or until inserted toothpick comes out clean.
  10. Cool completely.

  12. Refrigerate for easier slicing.
