Ingredients:

  • 4 cups flour
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp clove
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1 cup gumdrop
  • 1 cup dates
  • 1/2 cup nuts
  • 2 cups shortening
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 cups applesauce
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Directions:

  1. Cream shortening and sugar
  2. Add eggs
  3. Beat
  4. Add applesauce with soda and vanilla mixed in
  5. Mix spices and flour in another bowl
  6. Cut dates chop nuts take out black gumdrop.
  7. Add these to flour mixture as well as raisins
  8. Mix well.
  9. Add to creamed mixture
  10. Pour into wellgreased loaf pans
  11. Bake at 300 degrees for 2 hours
  12. Darlenes recipe says 45 to 60 minutes fin 350 degree oven
  13. Iwould go with lower heat.
