Ingredients:

  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 tbsp ghee
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp cardamom (elachi)
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup water

Directions:

  1. Beat eggs, cream of wheat and ghee well together.
  2. Add milk and elachi and beat again.
  3. Add flour and baking powder and mix to form soft jamun dough.
  4. Leave in fridge overnight. Fry next day in deep oil over moderate heat until jamuns are a lovely dark, tan colour.
  5. Dip in syrup. Sprinkle colour.
  6. The Syrup:.
  7. Mix 1 1/2 cups sugar in 1 cup water and when sugar is dissolved, put on stove and boil until syrup begins to form.
