Ingredients:

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar , if desired
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 egg

Directions:

  1. Combine cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Add milk, egg, and shortening.
  2. Beat until smooth about 1 minute.
  3. Bake in a greased 8-inch square pan in preheated oven (425°F) 20-25 minutes.
