Ingredients:

  • 2 1/4 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 3/4 tsp ginger
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves
  • 3/4 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1 egg

Directions:

  1. Combine dry ingredients.
  2. Cream butter and sugar.
  3. Beat in molasses and egg.
  4. Beat in flour mixture.
  5. Wrap dough in plastic wrap and chill (a few hours or overnight) Shape chilled dough into 1 inch balls.
  6. Bake on parchment paper lined cookie sheets at 375 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes.
  7. The cookies will spread and the tops will be crackled and soft looking when done.
  8. Cool on a wire rack.
