Ingredients:

  • 1 1/4 cups shortening
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup molasses
  • 1 tbsp vinegar
  • 2 eggs
  • 5 -5 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp clove
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp allspice
  • 1 tsp ginger

Directions:

  1. Mix first six ingredients.
  2. Add dry ingredients.
  3. Let chill for 1 hour.
  4. Take 1 TBSP dough (I like to make them BIG!) , roll into a ball and roll in granulated sugar.
  5. Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes. Remember all stove temps are different.
