Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup applesauce (unsweetened or cinnamon are fine)
  • 1 tbsp vanilla
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 cups oats
  • 2 2/3 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup wheat germ (you can add as much as you like)
  • 1/4 cup powdered milk

Directions:

  1. Heat oven to 350.
  2. Cream butter and sugars. Mix in eggs, applesauce, and vanilla. Add dry ingredients until combined. Fold in chocolate chips. (If you have a kitchen mixer you can just throw all the ingredients in together and turn it on until it has the consistency of cookie dough.).
  3. Spread batter in bar pan and bake 20 to 30 minutes or until golden brown.
  4. If using a 9 x 11 cake pan bake 40 minutes.
  5. These can also be made as cookies - bake 10 to 15 minutes.
