  1. Combine all ingredients in a medium saucepan. Stir until sugar dissolves. Bring to a boil over high heat; boil 1 minute. Remove from heat, and let stand 20 minutes. Strain, pressing on solids. Drizzle syrup over freshly sliced pears or pineapples. Keep syrup, chilled, up to one week.
