Corned Beef and Braised Red Cabbage

Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Toss cabbage with vinegar, sugar and salt.
  2. Allow to marinate for one hour.
  3. In a large, covered saucepan, saute onion in butter until softened.
  4. Stir in cabbage and cook for a few minutes.
  5. Add 2 cups water, corned beef and season with pepper.
  6. Bring to a boil.
  7. Layer apple slices on top of cabbage.
  8. Cover and simmer for 1 hour checking water lever from time to time and adding a little water if necessary.
  9. Add salt to taste before serving if desired.
