Ingredients:

  • 1 1/4 cups flour
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 2/3 cup buttermilk or 2/3 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 tsp ginger
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp allspice
  • 1/8 tsp clove
  • 1/3 cup shortening
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar

Directions:

  1. Combine bar ingredients and put in a greased 9 x13 glass pan.
  2. Bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes or until top springs back when lightly touched.
  3. Mix frosting ingredients together- Frost bars while still warm.
