Ingredients:

  • 3 cups sugar
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 5 eggs
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Directions:

  1. Cream sugar, butter, and shortening. Add eggs, one at a time and mix well. Sift together flour, salt and baking powder. Add alternately with milk. Beat 12 minutes. Blend in vanilla.
  2. Grease and flour 10-inch tube pan. Place cake in oven. Set at 325 degrees and bake for 1 1/2 hour.
