Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Roll out pie crust to slightly larger than a 9 inch deep dish pie plate.
  3. Gently fit pastry into plate. Fold over - hang back on top, crimp top edge for decoration. Pierce pastry with a fork. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 10-12 minutes. Set aside.
  4. In a double boiler, melt the butter with the chocolate chips and set aside.
  5. In a large bowl, beat the eggs, then add dark brown sugar, corn syrup, vanilla and salt. Add the butter/chocolate and blend thoroughly. Stir in chopped pecans. Pour filling into partially baked crust.
  6. Place pie on a cookie sheet and bake in a 350 degree oven for 35-40 minutes or until set.
  7. Serve with whipped cream, topped lightly with chocolate shavings. Garnish with chocolate dipped pecan halves if desired.
