Blueberry Spice Cake

Ingredients:

  • 1 pint blueberries
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/2 tsp allspice
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3 tbsp molasses
  • 1 cup buttermilk

Directions:

  1. Toss berries in a little flour (2 Tbsp).
  2. Sift flour, measuring 2 cups.
  3. Resift flour with baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, allspice and salt.
  4. Cream butter and white sugar.
  5. Beat egg and add to batter.
  6. Gradually beat in molasses.
  7. Add this mixture alternately with milk to dry ingredients.
  8. Fold in blueberries.
  9. Spread batter into greased and floured 9 x 13 pan.
  10. Bake at 375 degrees F for 30 minutes.
  11. Cool on rack.
  12. Immediately before serving, dust with powdered sugar.
