Bethal's Sugar Cookies Aka Cut-Out Cookies

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup crisco
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vinegar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 5 cups flour

Directions:

  1. Heat oven to 425 degrees.
  2. Add 1 tsp of vinegar to the milk.
  3. Sift together the flour, baking powder & baking soda.
  4. Cream together brown sugar, sugar, crisco & egg.
  5. Now add the lemon extract and the vanilla to the milk.
  6. Add the flour and the milk (alternating each) to the creamed ingredients.
  7. Mix the ingredients until a firm ball forms.
  8. Chill cookie dough at least one hour.
  9. Roll out chilled dough and cut into the desired shapes with your favorite cookie cutters.
  10. Bake at 425 degrees for 10-15 minutes.
  11. Let cool.
  12. Ice and decorate.
