Applesauce Cake---buttermilk Sauce

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup. butter
  • 1 cup. sugar
  • 1/2 cup. raisins
  • 2 cup. flour
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1/2 tespoon cloves
  • 1 1/2 tsp. soda

Directions:

  1. Cake:
  2. Cream butter and sugar; heat applesauce and add, with raisins to sugar mixture and cool.
  3. Sift dry ingredients together and slowly beat into applesauce mixture, then add nuts; pour into greased 8 x 8 in pan (square).
  4. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour.

  6. Buttermilk Sauce:
  7. 1 c. sugar
  8. 1/2 c. buttermilk
  9. 1 Tbsp. white corn syrup
  10. 1 tsp. vanilla
  11. 1/4 c. butter
  12. Mix all the ingredients together and bring to boil; remove from heat and let cool and put on cake. Serve warm.
