Ingredients:

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 lemon , juice of
  • 1 1/2-2 cups boiling water
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon

Directions:

  1. Sift flour, baking powder, salt & sugar together.
  2. Add the chopped apple & milk.
  3. Mix well and place in greased ovenproof dish.
  4. Blend together the brown sugar, butter, lemon juice and boiling water.
  5. Pour this over the batter in the dish.
  6. Sprinkle cinnamon on top and bake at 350'F/180'C for 20 - 25 minutes.
  7. After removing from the oven allow to stand for 10-15mins to allow the syrup to thicken and be slightly absorbed.
  8. Serve warm with cream or custard.
