American Poverty Pudding (Circa 1933)

Ingredients:

  • 1 quart corn flakes
  • 1 quart milk
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp ginger
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

Directions:

  1. Spread corn flakes in a greased, deep pudding dish.
  2. Mix remaining ingredients and pour over the corn flakes.
  3. Set pudding dish in a pan of hot water.
  4. Bake at 350°F for 30 minutes.
  5. When times are better, add 1/2 cup of raisins sprinkled over corn flakes before adding remaining ingredients.
