Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp ground mace
  • 1/2 cup currants or raisins
  • 1/4 cup sugar

Directions:

  1. Heat 2 to 3 inches oil to 375. Beat milk, 1/2 cup sugar, 1/4 cup oil,
  2. The eggs, baking powder, salt, mace and 1 cup of the flour in large
  3. Mixer bowl on low speed, scraping bowl constantly, 30 seconds. Beat on
  4. Medium speed, scraping bowl occasionally, 2 minutes. Stir in remaining
  5. Flour and the currants.
  6. Drop batter by teaspoonfuls into hot oil. Turn puffs as they rise to
  7. The surface. Fry until golden brown, 2 to 2 1/2 minutes on each side.
