Ingredients:

  • 3 cups flour (can use part whole wheat if desired)
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 4 tbsp shortening
  • 1 cup milk (warm )
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1/3 cup warm water

Directions:

  1. Dissolve yeast in warm water.
  2. Mix dry ingredients.
  3. Melt shortening, then add to warm milk.
  4. Add milk to yeast mixture, stirring to blend.
  5. Mix with flour.
  6. Roll out dough about 1/2 inch thick. Cut with biscuit cutter. Let rise to double in grease pan.
  7. Bake 10-15 minutes at 450 degrees F.
