Tiny and Lucille's Fig Preserves

Ingredients:

  • 1 quart fresh figs
  • 4 cup sugar

Directions:

  1. POUR water over figs to cover. Sprinkle liberal amount of baking soda over figs. Let soak 1 hour.
  2. DRAIN and rinse figs. Put figs and sugar in large pot. Bring to a boil and let simmer until thickened. About 2 hours.
  3. POUR figs and syrup into pint size sterilized jars and seal.
