Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup molasses
  • 3 eggs
  • 4 cups sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 cup milk

Directions:

  1. Cream butter and sugar well.
  2. Add molasses,scraping cup to get it all out.
  3. Add eggs,one at a time,beating well after each addition.
  4. Sift dry ingredients together and add alternately with milk.
  5. Spoon batter into six greased and floured round cake pans,spreading batter about 1/3 inch thick in each pan.
  6. Bake about 15 mintues in 350 oven.
  7. When cool,put thick applesauce between the layers,and stack them up and sprinkle the top with powdered sugar.
