  1. In large skillet, melt butter over medium heat; saute onion 10-15 minutes.
  2. Reserve 2 Tbsp.
  3. Onions.
  4. In large bowl, combine flour, baking powder and salt.
  5. Stir in milk, egg and cheese.
  6. Add onions.
  7. Pour into greased 9-inch deep dish pie plate.
  8. Topping: Sprinkle with cheese, reserved onions and poppy seeds.
  9. Drizzle with butter.
  10. Bake at 400 degrees until golden brown, about 20-25 minutes.
  11. Cool slightly; cut into wedges and serve warm.
