Sugar-crusted French Toast

Ingredients:

  • 2 eggs
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 'am_repl_4'>6 - 1 ' thick slices of french bread
  • 2 tbsp margarine or butter
  • 1 tbsp margarine or butter
  • 2 tbsp sugar

Directions:

  1. In a small bowl, beat together eggs, milk, 2 tbsp sugar and vanilla.
  2. Place bread in a 2-quart baking dish.
  3. Pour egg mixture over bread, turn to coat.
  4. Refrigerate 20 to 30 minutes or until egg is absorbed.
  5. In large skillet or griddle, melt 2 tbsp margarine or butter over medium heat.
  6. Cook bread on both sides about 2 to 3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  7. Transfer to baking sheet, brush tops of bread with 1 tbsp of melted margarine or butter. Combine 2 tbsp sugar adn the cinnamon, sprinkle on bread slices.
  8. Broil 4 inches from heat for 1-1/2 to 2 minutes, just until sugar is carmalized.
