Steaks With Garlic-Wasabi Sauce

Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. For SAUCE:.
  2. Combine all ingredients except wasabi mixture in large saucepan.
  3. Bring to boil.
  4. Reduce heat, cover and simmer 1 hour.
  5. Strain into medium saucepan.
  6. Boil until reduced to 1/2 cup, about 15 minutes.
  7. Stir in wasabi mixture.
  8. Season with salt and pepper. (Can be made 1 day ahead. Cover and chill).
  9. FOR STEAKS:.
  10. Preheat broiler.
  11. Combine breadcrumbs, parsley and garlic in small bowl.
  12. Melt 2 tablespoons butter in heavy large skillet over medium-low heat.
  13. Add onions and saute until tender and golden brown, about 15 minutes.
  14. Meanwhile, season steaks with salt and pepper.
  15. Broil to desired doneness, about 4 minutes per side for medium-rare.
  16. Sprinkle breadcrumbs over steaks.
  17. Broil until breadcrumbs are golden brown, about 2 minutes.
  18. Bring sauce to simmer.
  19. Remove from heat.
  20. Gradually add remaining 5 tablespoons butter, whisking just until melted.
  21. Arrange onions in center of 4 plates.
  22. Top with steaks.
  23. Spoon sauce around steaks and serve.
