Split Pea Soup Homemade

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups dry peas
  • 6 cups water
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 3 (pinches) salt
  • 3 tsp pepper
  • 1/4 tsp thyme

Directions:

  1. Wash and sort peas. Add water and bring to boil,then cover and simmer for 2 minutes. Remove from heat and let stand 1 hour. Add vegetables, bay leaf and thyme. Heat to boiling. Reduce heat and simmer covered, 2 1/2 to 3 hours until peas are soft. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Makes 2 quarts.
