Soft Sugar Cookies

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup butter
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 cup milk
  • 4-1/2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg

Directions:

  1. Beat sugar and butter until creamy.
  2. Add eggs and vanilla and beat well.
  3. Slowly add milk and beat.
  4. Stir in the rest of the ingredients.
  5. NOTE: Flour, baking soda and baking powder can be sifted but it is not necessary.
  6. Store cookie dough in the refrigerator overnight.
  7. Roll dough on a floured surface.
  8. Work quickly and keep dough cold.
  9. Roll to 1/4-inch thickness and cut into shapes.
  10. Sprinkle tops with either colored sugar or plain granulated.
  11. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes on top rack.
  12. Remove from cookie sheet immediately and allow to cool on rack.
