Ann's Soft Sugar Cookies

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 1/2 cups flour

Directions:

  1. Mix together butter, sugar, egg, vanilla, and almond extract in a large bowl.
  2. In another bowl stir together flour, soda, and cream of tartar.
  3. Slowly add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients.
  4. Cover and refrigerate for 2 hours.
  5. Preheat oven to 375.
  6. Divide dough in half.
  7. On a lightly floured surface roll each half to 3/16 of an inch.
  8. Cut out shapes as desired and sprinkle with sugar.
  9. Bake on cookie sheets for about 8 minutes.
