Sesame Orange Shrimp

Ingredients:

  • 2 large egg whites
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup sesame seeds
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1 1/2 lbs medium shrimp
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp sugar

Directions:

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together egg whites, cornstarch, sesame seeds, salt and pepper untill frothy. Add shrimp, toss to coat.
  2. Heat 1/4 oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium high heat. Working in three or four batches, cook shrinp until golden brown and crisp,2 to 3 minutes each side. Transfer to a paper towel to drain. Add more oil to skillet if necessary for remaining batckes.
  3. Wipe skellet with paper towel. Add orange juice, soy sauce, and sugar. Boil over high heat untill syrupy and reduced to about 1/3 cup, 4 to 5 minutes. Returne shrimp to skillet; add scallions, and cook until heated through and coated with sauce, about 1 minute.
