Ingredients:

  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
  • milk and sugar

Directions:

  1. Stir dry ingredients together.
  2. Cut in butter until mixture is crumbly.
  3. Combine egg with buttermilk; stir into dry ingredients.
  4. Turn dough out onto board, knead lightly.
  5. Divide in half'; roll each into a round, 1/2 inch thick.
  6. Cut each round into 6 to 8 wedges.
  7. Brush with milk, sprinkle with sugar.
  8. Bake on greased baking sheet in preheated 425 degree oven
  9. For about 10 minutes.
  10. Serve hot with butter and jam.
