Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup ( 1 stick) butter or margarine
  • 2 cups nestles toll house white premier morsels.....divided
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 /2 tsp salt

Directions:

  1. PREHEAT OVEN TO 325 DEGREES F. ...GREASE AND SUGAR -A - 9 INCH SQUARE BAKING PAN
  2. MELT BUTTER IN A MEDIUM , MICROWAVE -SAFE BOWL ON HIGH (100%) POWER FOR 1 MINUTE; STIR ADD 1 CUP OF MORSELS; LET STAND.......DO NOT STIR.........
  3. BEAT EGGS IN A LARGE MIXING BOWL UNTIL FOAMY.
  4. ADD SUGAR; BEAT UNTIL LIGHT LEMON COLORED, ABOUT 5 MINUTES.
  5. STIR IN MORSEL-BUTTER MIXTURE.
  6. ADD FLOUR, SALT AND ALMOND EXTRACT; MIX AT LOW SPEED UNTIL COMBINED.
  7. SPREAD 2/3 OF BATTER INTO PREPARED PAN
  8. BAKE FOR 15 TO 17 MINUTES OR UNTIL GOLDEN BROWN AROUND EDGES;REMOVE FROM OVEN TO A WIRE RACK.
  9. HEAT JAM IN A SMALL MICROWAVE-SAFE BOWL ON HIGH POWER FOR 30 SECONDS; STIR.
  10. SPREAD JAM OVER WARM CRUST STIR REMAINING MORSELS INTO REMAINING BATTER.
  11. DROP SPOONFULS OF THE BATTER OVER THE JAM SPRINKLE WITH ALMONDS.......
  12. BAKE FOR ADDITIONAL 25 TO 30 MINUTES OR UNTIL EDGES ARE BROWNED. COOL COMPLETELY IN PAN ON A WIRE RACK
  13. CUT INTO BARS
  14. MAKES 16 BARS
