Ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 3 cups warm water
  • 8 -10 cups flour

Directions:

  1. At 5 pm mix 1 cup water and 1t sugar sprinkle on yeast and sit until bubbly.
  2. Mix everything else in a large bowl, beating in flour a bit at a time.
  3. Knead till smooth and elastic.
  4. Oil top of dough and cover with tea towel to rise.
  5. At 7 pm punch down.
  6. At 9 pm pan and cover with a cloth. Let rise overnight.
  7. Bake at 350°F until light brown.
  8. Not sure about the yield as I never paid attention.
