Oriental Black Bean Spareribs

Ingredients:

  • 3 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 2 tbsp liquid honey
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp chopped gingerroot
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 pinch pepper

Directions:

  1. Cut ribs into serving size pieces and place in large pot, covered with water and bring this to a boil.
  2. Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 40 minutes or till tender.
  3. Drain well and arrange in shallow dish.
  4. Whisk together black bean sauce, vinegar, honey, ketchup, sesame oil, ginger and garlic and pepper.
  5. Pour over ribs, turn to coat.
  6. Cover and marinade in fridge at least 4 hours or up to 24 hours.
  7. Let stand at room temperature for 30 minutes.
  8. Reserving marinade, place ribs on greased grill over medium-high heat; cover and cook, turn and baste once with marinade, for 10 minutes or till crisp and glazed.
