Directions:

  1. Melt butter in top of a double boiler over boiling water. Reduce heat to medium, and gradually stir in sugar, lemon rind and juice, and boiling water. Gradually stir 1 tablespoon of hot mixture into beaten egg; add to remaining hot mixture, stirring constantly. Cook over boiling water, stirring constantly, until thickened. Remove from heat, and serve warm over pudding.
