Ingredients:

  • 4 cups rolled oats
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 quart buttermilk
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • optional raisins and brown sugar , i add these when i make them right after school so they can hold them in thier hands and eat them

Directions:

  1. In a large bowl, combine the oats, flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt. In a smaller bowl, combine buttermilk, eggs, melted butter and vanilla.
  2. After combining, add liquid ingredients all at once to dry ingredients.
  3. Stir with a fork to blend well.
  4. Do not over-beat. Let stand 30 to 40 minutes.
  5. Batter will thicken (if batter is too thick, add more milk, one tablespoon at a time until batter thins).
  6. Cook on prepared hot griddle.
