Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups boiling water
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar , firmly packed
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 3 tbsp margarine
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup coconut
  • 3/4 cup chopped nuts
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tbsp milk

Directions:

  1. CAKE Preheat oven to 350.
  2. In medium bowl, combine boiling water over oats.
  3. Mix well.
  4. Allow to stand 30 min.
  5. Grease a 9x9x2 pan.
  6. Add flour, baking soda, nutmeg& cinnamon.
  7. Set aside.
  8. In large bowl, cream butter.
  9. Add sugars.
  10. Add eggs one at a time.
  11. Add vanilla.
  12. Add rolled oats.
  13. Beat in flour mixture until well mixed.
  14. Pour batter in pan, put in oven for 50 min or until top springs back when gently pressed with finger tip.
  15. Topping.
  16. In a small bowl combine ingredients.
  17. Spread over hot cake.
  18. Return cake to oven& continue cooking 10 min longer or until topping is golden.
  19. Cool cake in pan on wire rack.
  20. Cut into squares.
