Ingredients:

  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 1 cup lukewarm water
  • 2 (7 g) envelopes yeast
  • 2 cups rolled oats
  • 2/3 cup molasses
  • 4 tsp salt
  • 7 cups flour

Directions:

  1. Mix sugar, water and yeast, let stand for 20 minutes. Soak oats in hot water for 15 minutes.
  2. Add molasses, salt shortening and yeast to cooled oats. Blend. Gradually mix in flour, knead until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, Cover and allow to stand in a warm place until double in bulk. Knead slightly and place in two greased loaf pans. Cover, let stand in warm place until double in bulk.
  3. Bake at 350F for 40 minutes.
