Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups butter or 1 1/2 cups margarine
  • 4 cups sugar
  • 8 eggs
  • 1 1/4 cups water
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 6 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (optional, but a must for our family!)

Directions:

  1. Cream together butter and sugar.
  2. Blend in eggs.
  3. Add bananas, water, soda, salt, and baking powder.
  4. Blend well.
  5. Stir in flour.
  6. Add nuts and/or chips, if desired.
  7. Pour into 4 greased/floured loaf pans or lined muffin tins.
  8. Bake at 350: loaves need 35-40 minutes, or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
  9. Muffins need only 18-20 minutes.
  10. ***With this recipe, I usually always make muffins to cut down bake time.
