Ingredients:

  • 1 1/4 cups sugar
  • 2 cups rolled oats
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 1/4 cups shortening
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 cup boiling water
  • 2 cups bran flakes

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
  2. Add soda to boiling water and let stand until cool.
  3. Mix together flour, baking powder, salt, bran flakes, rolled oats and sugar.
  4. Cut in shortening; add water and soda.
  5. Roll out thin on a floured board.
  6. Cut into 3 inch rounds.
  7. Bake in hot oven until golden brown.
