Mrs. Harland Sanders' Refrigerator Rolls

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 oz cake yeast
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 3/4 tsp baking powder
  • 2 1/2 cups flour

Directions:

  1. Cream the shortening and sugar until it is light and fluffy.
  2. Add mashed potatoes and cream some more.
  3. Heat the milk to lukewarm, dissolve one .25 ounce packet cake yeast in it.
  4. Pour warmed milk/yeast mixture into the shortening, sugar and potatoes.
  5. Add enough flour (approximately 1 cup) to make like cake dough.
  6. Stir in the salt.
  7. Let rise 2 hours.
  8. Stir in remaining flour, baking soda and baking powder to make a biscuit dough.
  9. Knead dough some.
  10. Refrigerate dough for 1/2 hour, then shape into rolls.
  11. Let rolls rise double their size.
  12. Bake at 450 F degrees for 12-14 minutes.
  13. Serve hot with my Kentucky Whipped Butter .
