Ingredients:

  • rice- 1/2 cup preferably scented rice like basmati uncooked
  • milk- 2 lit milk ( evaporated milk powder can also be dissolved and used.)
  • sugar - 1cup
  • raisin - 1/2 cup
  • cashewnut -1/2 cup
  • cardamom- 4 nos
  • bay leaf - 2nos

Directions:

  1. Wash rice and Soak rice for 3omins or so.
  2. Drain rice just before adding in to milk
  3. Boil milk in low flame and let it thicken for some time.
  4. Add bay leaf.
  5. Add soaked rice when the volume of milk reduces almost half.
  6. Stir it so that it is not stuck to the bottom.
  7. When rice gets half cooked add raisin , cashew nut , coconut pcs, shelled cardamom seeds.
  8. Stir thoroughly.
  9. Add sugar when rice is almost cooked and stir it continuously so that sugar gets mixed.
  10. (Don’t add sugar before rice is cooked otherwise rice will remain uncooked!!)
  11. When rice is cooked and milk is almost mixed up with rice remove from flame.
  12. Let it cool.
  13. Serve garnishing with cherries.
