Ingredients:

  • 2 cup flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 450*. In a bowl,, combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt; cut in shortening until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in buttermilk. Knead dough gently. Roll out to 1/2 thickness. Cut with 2-1/2 biscuit cutter and lace on a lightly greased baking sheet. Bake at 450* for 10 to 15 minutes or until golden brown.
  2. NOTE: You can substitute 1 tbsp. lemon juice OR vinegar + enough milk to make 1 cup in place of buttermilk.
